Innovating
Cancer Care

Revolutionizing cancer treatment with

clock gene therapy

Imagine a world where your immune system fights cancer for you.

Unlocking Temporal biology

Immunotherapy is one of the most significant steps forward in cancer treatment of the modern age—but current treatment options only meaningfully impact survival for 10% of patients because of variable immune response. Treatment is costly, with Medicaid alone spending over $4 billion a year on immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Our subscription software, Circadian OS, uses light-based clock gene therapy to prime the immune system for increased efficacy of immuno-oncology drug without risk for toxicity.

Approach

Pioneering Solutions

At Circadian OS, we are dedicated to developing groundbreaking non-pharmacological circadian therapies that optimize cancer treatment outcomes. Our personalized light therapy and immune clock assessment techniques aim to revolutionize oncology by integrating circadian medicine into standard practice, offering patients innovative and effective treatment options.

Revolutionizing cancer care

The power of time

Every day, thousands of cancer patients receive powerful immunotherapy treatments that help their immune systems fight cancer. But despite the $10,000 price tag, these life-saving treatments require numerous doses and still only work effectively for about 10% of patients. What if we could dramatically improve outcomes by paying attention to something basic: timing?

A breakthrough discovery

Clock genes create temporal order in your body

In 2017, Circadian OS collaborator Mike Young won the Nobel Prize for his discovery that all cells evolved to use clock genes to schedule their daily activities via sunlight. From sleep cycles to heart rates, our bodies operate on natural daily rhythms controlled by light. Nowhere is this more true than natural healing: immune responses naturally rise and fall throughout the day, reaching its peak strength for just 30 minutes.

While your immune system’s peak typically occurs in the morning, each person's internal clock is unique, and cancer can disrupt these natural rhythms even further. Retrospective clinical studies have found that administering immunotherapy at the optimal time for each individual patient could potentially extend surival four-fold. This discovery opens up an entirely new frontier in cancer treatment—one that doesn’t require new drugs or risky procedures, but rather the precise application of tools already in our hands.

Transforming screen time into healing time

The Power of Light

Circadian OS transforms ordinary “screen time” into a powerful medical tool. Through our simple blood test, we can measure each patient’s unique immune system rhythm and determine the correct timing for their immunotherapy treatments. Using our advanced software, we transform everyday display screens like an iPad into precisely calibrated light therapy—allowing us to adjust patients’ internal clocks so that treatment is tolerable, efficacious, and convenient.

Our Team.

Circadian OS is led by Sofia Axelrod, a renowned circadian rhythm researcher, Alexandra Saali, a psychiatrist specializing in cancer-related mental health, and Tom Brennan, a seasoned entrepreneur. Axelrod’s groundbreaking research, conducted in the Nobel Prize-winning lab of Mike Young, forms the foundation of Circadian OS’s vision. Saali’s clinical and industry expertise and Brennan’s industry network and operational experience complement the team. Together, they are dedicated to revolutionizing cancer treatment through circadian medicine.
